Established in 1854, fourteen families gathered on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year's Day and decided to petition the bishop of St. Paul to form a parish. In 1874 the Jesuits came to the parish to serve German-speaking immigrants. In 2008, by request of the Bishop, the IVE (Institute of the Incarnate Word) took the administration of the Parish and founded the Minor Seminary on the Parish grounds. The Church is a landmark in the Mankato Community and serves the spiritual needs of over 1500 parishioners. The building is among the few structures that date to this period that is still standing today. It is a tribute to the many, Priest, Brothers, and Parish Members who have steadfastly maintained this church as their place to give Glory, Praise, and Honor to God.
